Introduction - Who am I
Hi! Welcome to my blog on all things Digital economy. My name is Katie O'Leary, I am from county Wexford. I am 20 years old and currently a final year student at SETU in county Waterford studying Bachelor Of Business specialising in Economics and Finance.
To start off this blog, here's a quick run down of my previous work, I completed my 8 month work placement on the 31st of August at CSC global financial services in Gorey Co.Wexford. CSC provide business, legal and financial services across the globe including administration services across a range of transaction types and asset classes for alternative asset managers, capital markets participants, and corporations. I personally worked on the fund accounting team where I dealt with cash, trades, securities, clients and calculating the net asset value of weekly and monthly funds. In fund administration there is a lot of use of information systems.
For an example of our computer hardware platforms we used Microsoft for all our day to day workings. We also used Microsoft operating systems such as teams, excel and word. We used teams to communicate with each other throughout the day, we used excel to extract information that we have downloaded from our accounting system named Paxus and we also used word to store any back up we needed.
Information systems greatly benefited CSC as it increased productivity as there was no human error involved and also analysed the data needed at a fast rate. Communication was also very strong with the use of Microsoft teams as we could quickly ask team members questions and update them on any news. It also improves customer satisfaction, without information systems we would not have the resources to complete the weekly NAVs on the desired delivery day as there would be too much manual work. Due to information systems the NAV was completed on time every week and we would receive positive feed back from the clients.
Overall information systems play a huge roll in company's across the globe aiding them with decision making, customer service, problem solving, cost reductions, efficiency and much more.
Let me know if some information systems you have used in your workplace below 😊
