The success of Enterprise Applications

 Hi everyone, this week we are focusing on successful enterprise applications. The implementation of ERP systems involves installing the software and ensuring the team is making the most of the technology. Here are some examples of company's who have successfully used these systems to support their business.


1. Fulton & Roark

F&R are a retailer of mens grooming products. Their strategy is to move from a handful of outlets to a main focus on e commerce. Prior to upgrading to the full featured ERP they tracked their inventory on a spreadsheet and used the accounting software Sage live. When they started to double sales year after year they found their systems could not keep up. To centralise their work into one place they implemented NetSuite ERP. The instantly noticed the positive changes this system has made as they were able to catch and correct any bookkeeping errors that were made, stop working with any external accountants, increase sales by roughly 50% each year without increasing head count.



2. N&N Moving Supplies

N&N are a family run distributor of moving equipment and supplies. They had previously ran on a third party pay roll operator named QuickBooks, N&N found it was nearly impossible to keep accurate time records and reconcile payroll with general ledger accounts. They decided to implement the NetSuite ERP to mange their pay roll and accounting processes. While NetSuite was being implemented, they worked with a NetSuite partner, NOVA time, to add a time clock solution to the main system. With this in place N&N were able to reduce payroll processing time by 84%, balance accounts faster, improve the accuracy of hours and holiday time counts and give employees access to personalised ERP dashboards on iPads at each of its sites.


3. Green Rabbit

Launched by 2 friends, Green Rabbit is a candy wholesale business who state "automation is a vital ingredient in their success". They ran into the problem of shipping their chocolate bars during the summer months caused them to melt. They came up with a solution and designed a heat - sensitive supply chain, which other companies then came to them for help. They then re - branded as Green Rabbit, a supply chains logistic provider, specialising in fast delivery in perishable goods. The shift on their strategy tested their current process of QuickBooks, Excel and email. They found their multiple data bases could not effectively communicate with each other, effecting their real time data analysis. They chose NetSuite whos team got the system up in running within 3 months. Green Rabbit now helps customers ship food and candy across the country within 24 hours, deliver tens of thousands of orders per day with out delay, gets guaranteed error free data from its ERP system, could triple its order value by triple with out any impact to systems.


Overall we can see ERP systems can be the make or break for these companies and how big of an impact a good ERP system can make!

The struggle of implementing information systems

Hi all, this week I have looked into the implementation of information systems in business. Although you may see this as an upgrade for a company, there is also many struggles they face when imposing these systems.  1. Inadequate Training Training should be one of the most important factors when implementing new software. Employees need to understand how to utilise the software for the day to day running of the business. The project team must communicate frequently and accurately with employees by making an on - boarding plan to get employees up to speed and to use the features with confidence. An example of this process not being carried out correctly is with Nike and their supply chain issues in 2021. They stated that their employees were not adequately trained before the system went live.
